After viewing the photos contained in the link above, answer the following questions using complete sentences.
What do these photos have to do with the theme of Wild? How does each photo contribute to that theme? What do all of these photos have to say about being Wild or people in the Wild, or mankind’s existence with nature? Which special effects does Chen use to reinforce that idea. What ideas do you get for your own work? How would you approach the theme of Wild in five photographs?

With the theme of Wild, these photos just display people being outside, but with a unique twist. I think the photos are saying that being outside is dream-like, and heavily involves your imagination. Chen uses a lot of fog, but also plays with layer masks to get the image he wants. With his special effects, he makes butterflies surround a subject, and makes a cloud look like cotton that you could pick. Ideas for my own work would probably play with subtle special effects, due to me not wanting to distract my viewer from the actual subject. I don’t quite know how I would approach the theme of Wild, because Wild is different to everyone, nor is it easy to think of it as a simple concept that you could take a picture of.

These photos relate to the theme wild because they are out of the ordinary and unique. They also relate because all of them are in nature and interacting with nature. Each photo contributes to the theme because they all have a similar feel and all fit the meaning of wild. These photos show a cohesiveness between man and wild. Chen uses photoshop to clone, and mix different elements together to make amazing photographs. This gives me an idea to use people and have them interact with a human or non-human subject (animal or some type of plant). I would definitely put a lot of thought into how to portray my subjects in a way that has deeper meaning as well as what photo effects to use to create an out of the ordinary photo.
