  1. He’s trying to say that our country is at the boiling point, and the violence and tension here further amplifies it. I think a lot of this might be based off of the violence against minorities lately, because the picture is taken in Chicago. Art can be a reaction because you can put your raw feelings into it, without exclusively stating it. I don’t think I’ve used art to make a political statement, because everyone can interpret it differently, and that makes my anxiety pretty bad. This is especially true due to social media, because things can spread on there rather quickly. I would probably do a art piece about LGBT+ rights, or mental health. Autism would also be another thing I’m very strong about, because there is a harmful stereotype in our society that thinks all autistic people act this specific way, or that they can’t do anything, or that they suffer all the time.

i think the red marks are a temperature rising as it is getting hot. On a political level i think he is saying it is getting heated. i have never used art to create a political statement.

  3. Octavious was trying to point out that this is the boiling point of a hostile environment.
He took and made this photo because he wanted it to resemble a glass thermometer and to show what is going on in this country today.
Art can be a reaction to something that is happening on a national, political level by making the photo represent what is going on in the world today.
I don’t think that i have used art to make a political statement, i may have but not that i remember.
Something I believe strongly enough in that would create a piece of art as a reaction to something outside of myself would have to be depression because its a very serious and its very hard to deal with.

Octavious was trying to use current events to create an image that relates. He saw a connection between things that were going on in his town and a shape in the streets so he made the image. You can translate your feelings into art in many different ways. What you feel toward a national or political event can also be made into art by using metaphors. No, I haven’t made art to make a political statement. I think that if something happened that made me react with a lot of feeling (like a tragedy) and I felt strongly about the topic, I would use photography to make a photograph that shows how I feel or something that supports/disagrees with the topic.
