The rich have green trees, and paved roads. Their houses are real houses, and not shacks. The rich also have a cleaner looking neighborhood, while the poor do not. With such a large distance from the subject, you can see how big this divide between the rich and the poor really is. It makes you imagine how much bigger it can be, and if it’s in other areas as well. When you put two contrasting ideas together, it forces you to look at both ideas in a different light. For my own work, I could use emotion as a contrasting idea, because it can be really easy to do. It could be angry v. calm, or something like that. I’d just have to shoot it in a way that is interesting and clearly states what the story of the picture is about.

Visually, the difference between rich and poor is the cleanliness and the space per living area. The distance gives us a bigger picture and compares them side by side, something you wouldn’t be able to do from a ground eye level. It gives you a different perspective of the two contrasting ideas. When you put them next to each other, it is easier to spot the similarities and differences. You could put similar animals (of the same breed) together.
