  1. How was Pascal Goet able to transform bugs into subtle shapes that resemble human faces? Goet used subtle changes in light and shadow highlighting their anthropomorphic appearance. Goet did not alter any colors in the bugs. He tried to let the colors fade away to let the bugs look as though they are human faces.
    What is Goet trying to say by doing this? He is trying to connect to the viewer by making an encounter with him/her with people of a parallel world.
    How does macro photography lend itself to this sort of study? Macro photography gets as many details into photography as possible making him/her feel closer to the image than a normal photo would.
    What ideas do you get in this for your own work? I want a macro lens for my Nikon at home so that I can take pictures like these at home and while I am not at school.

  2. Pascal was able to achieve his photos by playing with shadows and lighting. He focuses on letting certain parts of the insect’s body fade away, and lets the bug’s colorful hues come through. Goet is trying to let us humans relate to something that we usually wouldn’t relate to. For me, I really like the use of shadows and color, and being really close to the subject. I think showing the texture of something is interesting to do.

    Macro photography lend itself to this sort of study because its a set of instructions to preform a particular task.

    Some ideas i have maybe i could take photos of things that look like something else or that are colorful.

    he was able to get differnt angles on the insects to get cool shapes
    he wants you to see the connection between bugs and humans
    This is a unique study comparing bugs to humans. you dont see this alot
    I would tell you that i would try it but im too scared of bugs

    He was able to use the colors, shapes, and angles to transform the bugs into subtle shapes.
    He is trying to make the viewer see a connection between bugs and humans. Macro photography helps a photographer get up close to something very small. This helps the photographer make an image that is clearer and more defined in terms of composition.
    This gave me ideas to create connections between my subject and something else that’s not in the photo.
