- This Week’s Assignment: Experimental Self Portraits.

Two Semesters – One Porfolio

Step 1: Get together in your CFGs and pull up the Color with Emotion photos you made last week. All of the work that was turned in last week is up now on the website.
Step 2: Each person should be able to answer these questions about each photo in your CFG. Write down the group’s thinking on each of these questions for each of your photos. Post the answers in a google doc and turn it into Google Classroom. Critiques are due on Wednesday.
1. How did the photographer explore emotion in each of their photographs? Does color and color theory play a factor in these images? How so? How does the photographer use color to say something emotional about the subjects they are photographing? What different techniques does the photographer use to present the subject? What sort of moods are created? What is the photographer trying to say with these photos?
2. Overall, what could be done to make these photos stronger?
Each person turn in a copy of their group’s answers to the above questions
More Examples here.
For this week’s assignment, it’s time to get weird. Take a good long look at yourself. How could you explore different sides of your personality with photography? What would loneliness look like in a photograph? What would self-doubt look like in a photograph? What does someone who is trying to figure themselves out look like? How about the moments in your life that have defined you, how could you photograph these?
For example, the photos contained in the examples above explore all kinds of different sides we all have: How we feel like we are several people trapped in one body, or maybe the person inside is different than the person outside. Or we feel like we are not a person, or we feel broken, literally. Spend five photos where you explore different parts of your personality with photography.
Use the self timer please. I have a trigger so you can stand in front of the camera.
Also think props, face paint, powder, flour, water, liquid, make something unique about someone unique, you!!
Five Photos are due on 11/22.
