This Week’s Assignment: Attack of the Clones

For this week’s assignment, you will create cloned images of the same person or pet. Don’t do objects as that’s too easy to duplicate naturally.

What makes this possible is taking multiple images at the same location. YOU WILL NEED A TRIPOD FOR THIS ASSIGNMENT. Once you have your images, you stack them in Photoshop using Layer/Duplicate Layer. Then you use layer masks to create the cloned effect.

MAKE SURE TO LEAVE PLENTY OF ROOM BETWEEN CLONES. IF THEY DO OVERLAP IT BECOMES VERY TRICKY TO FIX.

CHOOSE ONE OF YOUR IMAGES TO COMPETE IN THE PHOTO CHALLENGE FOR THIS PERIOD.

FOUR cloned images are due before 12/12.

http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2016/11/bottled-finnish-landscapes-captured-with-double-exposure-photography-by-christoffer-relander/

After viewing the photos contained in the above link, answer the following questions using complete sentences.

What metaphor is the photographer using here by placing images of nature inside of a bottle? How does the photographer change the subject enough to keep the photos interesting through several different versions of these bottled landscapes? What ideas do you get after looking at these photos?

Cfg Critique – Experimental Self Portraits

Step 1: Get together in your CFGs and pull up the  Experimental Self Portrait photos you made last week. All of the work that was turned in last week is up now on the website.

Step 2: Each person should be able to answer these questions about each photo in your CFG. Write down the group’s thinking on each of these questions for each of your photos. Post the answers in a google doc and turn it into Google Classroom. Critiques are due on Wednesday.

1. How did the photographer explore elements of their personality using experimental photography techniques?  What experimental photographic technique was used? How so?  What sort of moods are created? What is the photographer trying to say with these photos?

2. Overall, what could be done to make these photos stronger?

Each person turn in a copy of their group’s answers to the above questions
